One of the things we discussed in class in regards to Birkerts’ chapter, “Hypertext; Of Mouse and Man is the fact that our language is degenerating. I believe this is true. In the olden days, people wrote so beautifully and eloquently. Throughout time, with our desire to abbreviate everything in order to make things easier, we have lost some of this beauty. Our language today seems to be the worst by far. With the use of texting and instant messaging, we have almost created a whole new language. If my Grandmother was to read a text message, she would not be able to understand it because of all the abbreviations.
